ENTOURAGE just wrapped up for another season, but if you’re still wondering what song was playing during the end credits of the show or searching for the name of that hot track playing in the background as Vinny Chase and his crew hit up that swank Hollywood club, HBO has created a reference guide for every episode going right back to the first season.
Although the show has been picked up for a seventh season, there’s no word yet on when it will be back on the air.
Royal Winnipeg Ballet video blog
THE Royal Winnipeg Ballet is currently in rehearsals for Moulin Rouge, scheduled to open on Oct. 21 at the Centennial Concert Hall. The RWB is hoping its new video blog project, which goes behind the scenes at the ballet, will not only show how much hard work and dedication goes into a show, but also give the public an insider’s look into what it takes to pull off a production of this size.
Packaged in short, easy-to-handle YouTube clips, the innovative video blog documents everything from the making of the promotional poster to the painstaking choreography that needs to come together. Six webisodes are already online, with more still to be added.
SINCE 1998, Rotten Tomatoes has been leading the way in aggregating movie reviews from across the web. Similar to Metacritic, but focused solely on films, the site has become ground zero for movie fans wanting to see what critics think about what’s currently theatres or heading to DVD.
Taking a look back at the last nine years, the site has created a Worst of the Worst list. From the recent Kate Beckinsale thriller Whiteout (which was filmed in Winnipeg) to Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, Rotten Tomatoes should keep you from blowing your hard earned money on terrible movies at the DVD store or wasting your time in the theatre watching something that never should have been released in the first place.
Unreleased live Nirvana song: Scoff
FIVE years ago when the Nirvana box set was released, most of the discussion centred around the last studio track the band recorded, You Know You’re Right, and the in-fighting between Courtney Love and surviving members David Grohl and Krist Novoselic about what should and shouldn’t be included.
They were back in the spotlight recently after the inclusion of two Nirvana songs and a playable version of Kurt Cobain in the new Guitar Hero game caused a stir.
Even though the majority of the material on the box set was unreleased, the new Sub Pop reissue of Nirvana’s landmark debut album, Bleach, will include a never-before-heard live recording of a 1990 gig at Portland’s Pine Street Theatre. The reissue will be available on CD and 180-gram white vinyl on Nov. 3.
Next on most Nirvana fans’ wish list is a remastered, DVD/Blu-ray version of From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, which is currently on available on CD and VHS.
