Kittens Live: 2006 Reunion Performance
Recorded live on New Year’s Eve in 2006 at the intimate spot above Ragpickers, these two tracks from Winnipeg noise mavericks Kittens - part of the first wave of ultra-heavy bands to emerge from Winnipeg’s underground scene - were taken from the band’s last performance. A Kittens show was like getting caught with your head down by Scott Stevens. Released independently, through Hamilton’s Sonic Unyon and, later, Winnipeg’s No List Records, Kittens’ music would influence more bands than would like to admit it. The group’s weird, lo-fi videos also caught the attention of MuchMusic and were played a few times a month, mostly on The Wedge. Many of those videos are currently available on YouTube. The songs here, Sexboat and Queen of Clubs, feature Shawn Fedorchuk (aka Pony, guitar/vocals), David Kelly (aka Bazooka, drums) and Jesse Matthewson from KEN mode handling bass duties for long-time member, Jahmeel Russel, who was unavailable. These tracks have never before been released to the public.

Generatus
A few years ago, when Friendster, MySpace and Livejournal ruled the web, the thought of social-networking fatigue wasn’t really on the horizon. With the explosion of online networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn, web 2.0-driven digital communities such as Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo and Digg, and the increasing use of micro-blogging platforms such as Twitter and Tumblr, users can easily get burnt out trying to keep up with all of their sites. Although aggregators such as Friendfeed and all-in-one update tools such as Ping.fm can make things easier, they don’t solve all your problems. That’s where Generatus comes in. This simple yet highly effective online tool helps you come up with a current status and gives you one less thing to worry about.
